Bat tests positive for rabies

HOT SPRINGS – A bat collected by Hot Springs Animal Services last Friday from a home off the 100 block of Scuttle Street in Garland County has tested positive by the Arkansas Health Department for rabies. No related human or animal exposures were reported to have occurred.

Animal Services reminds residents of the importance of vaccinating pets against rabies. “Please avoid contact with any nocturnal animals, such as bats or skunks, observed to be active during daytime hours,” Animal Services Director Dan Bugg cautioned. To report such activity, contact Animal Services at 262-2091.
